SYRACUSE -- A group of protestors took advantage of Governor Andrew Cuomo's visit to Syracuse to make their voices heard.
More than a dozen people organized a small demonstration in protest of hydrofracking outside the Oncenter on Wednesday. Gov. Cuomo was inside presenting his budget proposal to CNY leaders.
The protesters were trying to get Gov. Cuomo to set some environmental goals. "We're really here to say we want green jobs. We don't want dirty fossil fuels, especially fracking," said Renee Vogelsang, one of the demonstrators.
Those in support of hydrofracking said gas drilling has a good safety record and could help the state bring in more money.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is looking into drilling regulations and will review more than 60,000 comments on the hydrofracking proposal.
