CANANDAIGUA -- A Geneva man was arrested in Ireland after he reportedly jumped bail and fled the US.

State Police say Michael Watkins, 48, was arrested in 2002 for assault, burglary and criminal mischief in Canandaigua.

He was released on bail and fled the United States.

Watkins was later detained by Irish authorities on unrelated charges and was deported to the United States following the completion of his sentence.

State Police attested Watkins upon his arrival at John F. Kennedy Airport and was sent to the Ontario County Jail awaiting arraignment on charges from 2002 and a new charge for jumping bail.
