LIVERPOOL -- The Clay woman who's newborn baby was found dead in a dumpster will face a trial this summer.
In Onondaga County Court Tuesday, the judge set a trial date for July 9 for Nicole DeJaynes.
Last month, she rejected a plea deal that would have sent her to prison for 15 years.
DeJaynes has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and manslaughter in the death of the baby girl.
The infant's body was found last January in a garbage container outside a Liverpool apartment complex. Authorities say she was staying at a friend's apartment and was alone when she gave birth there. Prosecutors say the medical examiner's report found the child was born alive and then suffocated. DeJaynes' lawyer says his client thought the baby was still born and says she allegedly dumped the child's body in the dumpster because she panicked.
When police found the newborn, they named her Baby Isabella and made sure she was given a proper burial.
