ROME -- A Rome man was arrested for allegedly passing stolen and forged checks at the Hilltop Market and the Milkplant Tavern in West Leyden.

Police say Mark V. Kohn, 40, passed stolen and forged checks between April and August of 2011.

Kohn was arrested earlier this month as the result of a joint investigation of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in Lowville and the City of Rome Police Department Detective Raymond Bolton.

Police say Kohn arraigned in the Town of Turin Court. Bail was set at $5,000.00 cash or $10,000.00 bond.

Kohn was remanded to the Lewis County Correctional Facility and is scheduled to reappear in court at a later date.
