SYRACUSE -- The revitalized Citizen Review Board in Syracuse has new complaints to investigate.
At Thursday's regularly scheduled meeting, another complaint against the Syracuse Police Department was brought to the table by a board member.
The board could not comment on specifics, but said the complaint was originally filed with the old CRB, but never acted upon.
This makes it the third case the new CRB will handle, following a complaint lodged by two Occupy Syracuse protesters and another complaint filed in late January.
We're told the board is still waiting on findings from the Syracuse Police Department in each of those cases before it can go any further.
CNY Central also learned Thursday night that two more complaints will soon be filed with the CRB, soon brining the total number of cases to five.
CRB Chair Crystal Collette said she's not surprised by the number of filings and said board members are up to the challenge.
But it's a unique challenge for board members, who are still learning their new jobs and trying to take care of "housekeeping".
The CRB has just launched a website with the city of Syracuse, but is still waiting on an official e-mail address.
At Thursday's board meeting, some of the discussion was centered around whether business cards needed to be ordered or if a mission statement should be crafted.
It came hours after a training session aimed at acclimating new board members with the law and their duties.
"It is a lot, we have a lot of questions about the legal language and what it all means," said Collette. "We're all learning a lot together. We have very clearly outlined expectations -- it's the understanding how to implement them that we're working on."
While board members continue their work, they're putting the full court press on hiring a new administrator. The job, which pays up to $64,000 per year, has been posted online as part of a nationwide search.
Anyone interested has until the beginning of March to apply.
