ITHACA, TOMPKINS CO. -- An Ithaca man is accused of trying to rob two children.

Ithaca police say 26-year-old Christopher Richardson approached a 10 and 14-year-old along the 100 block of Lake Avenue around 8 p.m. Tuesday and displayed a piece of copper piping as he demanded they empty their pockets and give him money. Neither victim was hurt.

About 45 minutes later, police found Richardson about four blocks away and arrested him. He is charged with attempted robbery, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of a weapon.
