PITTSBURGH -- The Syracuse University men’s basketball team is in Pittsburgh for the second round of the NCAA Tournament where they are slated to play 16-seed UNC-Asheville tomorrow at 3:15pm.
Scoop Jardine and Kris Joseph are scheduled to speak at today's press conference along with coach Jim Boeheim.
After yesterday’s news that Fab Melo will not play in the NCAA Tournament many fans are wondering what will happen to the Orange.
Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said yesterday that the Orange will be "ready to play" without the sophomore center. He told The Associated Press that, "all we can do is be ready to play with the guys we have."
Many fans expect that Fab Melo will leave Syracuse and head to the NBA draft. NBADraft.net currently lists him as the 20th pick in the first round.
According to Syracuse University Athletics, "Fab Melo did not travel with the team to Pittsburgh, and will not take part in the NCAA Tournament due to an eligibility issue."
Earlier this season, Melo missed three games due to an an academic issue. While Melo was off the court, Syracuse was 2-1, losing their first game of the season to Notre Dame on January 21.
