ST. REGIS INDIAN RESERVATION, N.Y. (AP) -- Two people have been rescued from a northern New York river after a car ran off a bridge.

The Watertown Daily Times reports that the car crossed into the oncoming lane, hit a guardrail and toppled into the St. Regis River just after 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The accident happened on the St. Regis Mohawk reservation near the Canadian border.

A man and woman were taken to hospitals. Their names and conditions weren't available.

Tribal police are investigating and were expected to release more information Friday morning.
