Suspect picked up at attempted burglary Saturday morning
Ithaca Police have charged an 18 year old with two counts of burglaries, including at the Department of Motor Vehicles on Friday evening. Investigators say he's a suspect in at least one other attempted break-in, in Ithaca.
The teen was arrestd early Satruday, at an attempted burglary at Quilter's Corners on West State Street. They say physical evidence then connected him with a burlary at Za Zas Cuisine on March 13th, and Friday evening's DMV burglary, on Third Street. Police responded to that, as they were setting up a perimeter at Wyllie Dry Cleaning on West Seneca Street, after finding a smashed window. Witnesses saw someone trying to get in, but there was no apparent break-in there.
Ithaca Police spent the overnight processing the DMV crime scene for evidence, and to see what's missing. Some evidence has been sent to the State Police Crime Laboratory, with more charges possible. The suspect is being held, pending arraignment.
