Incident on Syracuse's near south side under investigation

Syracuse Police are now releasing the name of  a teen, shot in the torso early Sunday morning.  18 year old Delquan Holmes drove himself to University Hospital for treatment.

Syracuse Police are investigating the incident, in the 400 block of Sterling Avenue (just south of Bellevue Ave) on the city near south side.  Holmes tells police he was sitting in a car with others about 1:30 this morning, and was approached by a black man who fired what appeared to be a shotgun.  The 18 year old  sped to University Hospital for treatment.  Police, who interviewed him at the hospital after being contacted by 9-1-1, say the injury is not life-threatening.

The investigation continues, and anyone with information can contact Syracuse Police at 442-5222.
