WATERTOWN (AP) -- Authorities have charged the owner of a pit bull after the dog got loose and attacked another dog inside a northern New York home before being stabbed to death by the home owner.
The Watertown Daily Times reports that Brian King used a kitchen knife to stab the pit bull after it had gotten into his home last Saturday and attacked his miniature dachshund. King says the pit bull wouldn't let go of his dog, so he stabbed the pit bull and struck it with a golf club.
King says the pit bull chased him into his house as he held his dog. His pet is recovering at a veterinarian's office.
The woman who owned the pit bull was charged with having a dog at large and having a dog without its proper tags on.
