ITHACA, TOMPKINS CO. -- Members of the Cornell Crew Team found a body floating in the water at Allen Treman State Park during their practice this morning.
Ithaca police say the team was practicing in the inlet when they made the gruesome discovery. The victim was identified as Brian Washington Jr., of Ithaca. He was reported missing on January 30.
Authorities say Washington's family hadn't heard from him since he disappeared. Investigators say they've been in regular contact with his family ever since.
Right now, police don't know the cause of death. An autopsy will be performed to determine that. For now, the case is being investigated as a suspicious death pending the autopsy results.
