DEWITT -- Police have identified the skeletal remains discovered on March 17 behind Shoppingtown Mall in DeWitt.

Police say the body found was Tracy L. Kulas who was reported missing from the Lincoln Elms assisted living residence which was located at 703 W. Onondaga Street in Syracuse.

A missing person investigation began after Kulas was reported missing. She was last seen getting into a black pick up truck outside her home on March 16, 2005.

Kulas was 30-years-old at the time of her disappearance. She was a mother of three children.

Kulas's family is from Kirkville, about twelve miles east of Syracuse.

Police were able to identify the remains through a dental comparison.

Along with her remains, police found personal items including her driver's license.

Chief of Police Eugene Conway says, "We did find personal items and one of those personal items was her driver's license, which is where we got this picture, there was a purse found and in the purse was personal items belonging to Tracy."

Police have not determined the cause of death or exactly how long her remains have been there.

A 13-year-old boy who lives in the area found skeletal remains while playing in the woods near Kinne Road on Saturday.

Police commended the boy by saying he "did everything right" and that he did "not disturb the scene at all."

An investigation is continuing to the cause of death.

Police are asking that anyone with information regarding this investigation contact DeWitt Police at tips@townofdewitt.com or by calling 632-0071.
