UTICA -- A New York Mills man threatened to detonate a bomb from a cell phone in the Emergency Room of St. Elizabeth's Hospital.

Police say they were called to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica around 4:00a.m. on March 15. Medical personnel say 30-year-old Mark Thomas was claiming he had a bomb in his car and planned to detonate it with his cell phone.

Upon locating Thomas's vehicle, police found a metal canister with a circuit board attached in the front seat. Officers and a bomb detection K-9 investigated the device and determined it was not a danger.

Police charged Thomas with Placing a false bomb, a felony charge.
