DEWITT -- Police say that a Dewitt man was driving while intoxicated when he crashed his car early Sunday morning.

Brian Jackson, 24, of Dewitt, was driving his 1996 Chevy Lumina east on the 6100 block of East Seneca Turnpike at 2:50 am when he drove his vehicle off the road, struck a culvert, went airborne and landed after striking a tree.

Because Jackson's vehicle was heavily damaged, he had to be removed from the Lumina by the Jamesville Fire Department. His injuries are non-life threatening, and he was transported to Upstate University Hospital for treatment.

Sheriff's deputies charged Jackson with driving while intoxicated and speeding.
