ITHACA (AP) -- Relatives say a Marine corporal from upstate New York who was wounded in Afghanistan earlier this year has died.

Robin Webb, Christopher Bordoni's mother-in-law, tells the Ithaca Journal that he died Tuesday night at the San Antonio Military Medical Center. The 21-year-old had been in critical condition at the Texas hospital after being wounded in January in Afghanistan's Helmand province.

The Pentagon hasn't released information on Bordoni's death.

The newspaper reports that he grew up in the Ithaca area and graduated from Ithaca High School. His mother lives in the nearby village of Lansing and his father lives in the town of Ithaca.

Bordoni was wounded when a suicide bomber attacked his patrol. His family says it was his second tour in Afghanistan.

He's survived by his wife and parents.
