SYRACUSE -- Two punk bands will be playing free concerts at the New York State Fair this summer.
State fair officials say The Downtown Fiction and We Are The In Crowd will play in this summer's Midway Music Series at the fair.
The Downtown Fiction will perform September 1 at 8 p.m. We Are The In Crowd will take center stage on September 2 at 8 p.m. Admission to the shows is free with fair admission.
State Fair Director Dan O'Hara says, "People love free entertainment. They love music. There is something positive, there is positive energy created with music. It's a great thing to have at the fair."
O'Hara says he hopes to have about nine acts lined up for this year's Midway Music Series.
He says more musical acts will be announced in the next new weeks. O'Hara says he expects some big names to come to the Chevy Court.
The 2012 Great New York State Fair will be held from August 23 to September 3.
