RICHFIELD SPRINGS -- A school field trip was disrupted by a bomb threat made Wednesday to an Onondaga Central School bus.

Onondaga Central School District superintendent Joseph Rotella says a group of students were on a field trip heading to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

One of the students on board received a text message saying there was a bomb on the bus.

Officials say the bus driver immediately got the students off the bus and called 911. The bus pulled over in Richfield Springs at the corner of State Route 20 and 24.

The Richfield Springs School District brought a bus over for the kids to wait on while the police investigated. The Cooperstown School District then sent a bus to take the students to the Hall of Fame.

State Police conducted a sweep of the bus and determined it was safe.

Once the Onondaga Central School District bus was cleared, it resumed its trip to Cooperstown to meet the students.

Superintendent Rotella would like to thank the Richfield Springs and Cooperstown School Districts and the State Police for their teamwork.
