ONEIDA, MADISON CO. -- An Oneida man is accused of driving drunk and leading deputies on a chase.

Madison County Sheriff's deputies say caught 34-year-old Michael Loveless on North Main Street in Oneida after he didn't dim his headlights. They pulled him over on Farrier Avenue just east of Broad Street, but say he took off speeding.

Deputies say Loveless drove through the intersection of Farrier and West Avenues, slamming into a curb, which forced the car's airbag to deploy. Deputies say Loveless took off on foot, leaving his car running and in gear.

Oneida police joined deputies in the search for Loveless. He was eventually found in a business parking lot on Lenox Avenue and arrested.

Loveless is charged with driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of .08 of 1 percent or greater, failure to dim head lights, unreasonable speed in special hazards, speed in zone, fail to stop at a stop sign, uninspected motor vehicle, aggravated unlicensed operation failure to comply with a lawful order and unlawful fleeing of a police officer. He was sent to the Madison County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.

Loveless is scheduled to appear in Oneida City Court tomorrow.
