JERUSALEM, YATES COUNTY -- A Phelps man died after losing control of his car on the highway while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Police say Jackie D. Allen, 64, was driving southbound on Guyanoga Road near the Friend Hill Road intersection in the town of Jerusalem when he lost control of his car.

Deputies say he was speeding around a curve in the road. Allen’s car went off the highway and reentered the highway crossing both lanes. His car then went off the east side of the highway and slammed into a tree.

Police say Allen was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.

He died as a result of massive internal injuries.

Investigations determined that Allen was under the influence of prescription medications, illegal drugs and had a blood alcohol content level 4.5 times the legal limit; about .36%.
