WATERTOWN (AP) -- A Massachusetts man has admitted to taking a Greyhound bus left running at a Syracuse station last Christmas and driving it to another upstate town so he could visit a friend.

The Watertown Daily Times reports that 40-year-old Andrew Hickey of Forestdale, Mass., pleaded guilty this week in a Watertown court to unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He's expected to be sentenced in June to three years' probation.

A former resident of Peekskill in Westchester County, Hickey told police he was cold when he spotted the bus running while being fueled at the Syracuse transportation center on Christmas Day. He drove the bus for about 60 miles north to Watertown before Greyhound officials shut it down remotely through the vehicle's onboard computer.

Hickey says he was "disoriented" by prescription medications at the time.
