ONEIDA -- An Oneida man is accused of possessing methamphetamines.

State police say 44-year-old Thomas Laplante, of 330 North Lake Street, had meth on himself and in his business truck at the time of his arrest. He was the former co-owner of Collier's Glass & Mirrors Store and a local painter.

Police say Laplante was coming from a job site when he pulled into the parking lot of Travis Ellsworth who was in custody for allegedly manufacturing meth. Ellsworth was allegedly caught with a bag containing the precursors of meth. Police say they also found 2.5 grams of meth and some pills in his apartment.

Police say the meth found in Laplante's truck was in a false container often used by drug dealers to conceal the drugs.

Laplante is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the City of Oneida Court on May 4.
