Fort Drum soldiers killed in Afghanistan

FORT DRUM -- Two Fort Drum soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan.

The military says 2nd Lt. David Rylander and Spc. Junot Cochilus died Wednesday, May 2nd when their unit was attacked by insurgents with an improvised explosive device.

2nd Lt. Rylander was 23-years-old. He was an Engineer Officer from Stow, Ohio. Rylander joined the Army in May of 2011 and came to Fort Drum in November. Rylander is survived by his mother, father, two brothers, and sister.

Spc. Cochilus was a 34-year-old Combat Engineer from Charlotte, North Carolina. He came to Fort Drum in July of last year and deployed in October. Conchilus leaves behind a wife, child, mother, father, and brother.
