SYRACUSE -- A Syracuse man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a man in the chest with a kitchen knife Thursday night.

Police arrested 46-year-old Warren Agnew of Syracuse in connection with a stabbing that took place at 10:25pm Thursday night at Toomey-Abbott apartments on Almond Street in Syracuse.

Police say Agnew stabbed 36-year-old James Carson in the chest with a kitchen knife.

Responding officers say they saw Agnew running away from the apartment complex with blood on his clothes. He was located on Almond Street, about two blocks from the Toomey-Abbott apartments.

Officers say they found Carson in the lobby of the 20th floor. He was rushed to Upstate University Hospital in critical condition and is now expected to survive.

Officers found the knife at the scene.

Agnew is charged with second degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Syracuse City Court on Friday.
