A seventeen year old on a learner's permit was passing another vehicle near the Vernon-Verona Sherrill High School  last night, when troopers say he lost control, took down a utility pole and rolled his SUV.

17 year old Cody Domera, from Oneida was not seriously hurt, but one of his eight passengers was ejected from the Trail Blazer, and another has been airlifted to University Hosital with a serious leg injury.

Route 31 was closed for several hours after the Route 31 crash, at about 8:15 last night, as National Grid crews removed downed power lines.

Troopers say driver inexperience and unsafe speed are to blame.  The investigation continues.
