RUSSIA, HERKIMER CO. (AP) -- An upstate New York farmhand is recovering from chest and abdominal injuries after he was gored by a bull on a Herkimer County farm.
State police say 26-year-old Luis Martinez was herding cattle into a barn in the Herkimer County town of Russia Monday morning when he was attacked by a 3-year-old Holstein bull. The farm owner found Martinez about 15 minutes later.
Martinez was airlifted to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, where he was treated for broken ribs, a possible collapsed lung and abdominal trauma.
