SYRACUSE (AP) -- A 22-year-old Central New York woman whose passenger was killed in a crash last year has pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide.

The Syracuse Post-Standard reports that Katharine Webb of Tully is expected to be sentenced July 20 to five years' probation and 300 hours of community service.

Webb was originally charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter and DWI, but prosecutors agreed to the lesser plea because the evidence didn't prove she was drunk. Her blood-alcohol level was 0.08 percent, the legal limit. They say the victim's family also agreed to Wednesday's plea bargain.

Webb was driving on Interstate 81 in her hometown near Syracuse when she lost control of her SUV and hit the guiderails, throwing 29-year-old Jerry Brown of Tully to his death on Nov. 5.
