Rural Metro, Heart Association offer classes
You can learn CPR in about an hour, at classes at Carousel Center next week---and it's free
Evren if you learned CPR, chances are good your certification has significantly lapsed. Now, an intense community training program is being planned, for during National CPR Week.
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (June 5, 6 &7), courses will be offered at the Carousel Center at 11am, and 1 and 3pm. They are free. The Hands-Only technique involves two steps: call 911 for help, then push hard & fast on the chest, til professionals arrive. The community effort is being coordinated by Rural Metro and the American Heart Association.
Since most heart attacks occur in the home, chances are you'll be helping a loved one, says Ed Moser, the Community Education Supervisor for Rural Metro. The concern is, most people don't know how to help: 70% of us have never been trained in CPR, or their training has significantly lapsed.
The course (about an hour) is free, but they ask that you let them know which course you're coming to: call 234-4744, or email CPRSyracuse@heart.org.
