Syracuse man hospitalized after east side shooting

SYRACUSE -- A 47-year-old man is recovering from surgery after being shot on the city's east side Monday evening.

Police say Wilfred J. Roman of Syracuse was shot while standing on the front porch of 101 Salt Springs Road just before 6:00 p.m. He was found laying in the street at the corner of East Genesee Street and Croly Street.

Roman was transported to Upstate University Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. He was listed in serious condition as of late Tuesday morning.

There is no suspect information at this time. Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call the Syracuse Police at 442-5222. Police say all calls will be kept confidential.
