The Syracuse Citizen Review Board has issued its first ruling and it is critical of a police officer and a sergeant who were involved in an encounter with two people connected with Occupy Syracuse in January.   The one page letter to Adam and Risa C'DeBaca states the Review Board did not find enough evidence to prove the primary allegation of use of excessive force.

The Board did conclude the officer and a supervisor showed "a lack of truthfulness in their statements".   This is the first case considered by the newly constituted CRB.  It was sent to Syracuse Chief of Police Frank Fowler with a "recommendation for an appropriate level of discipline."    The Syracuse Police Department did not offer the officers involved for testimony before the panel as has been policy since its inception in 1993.
