ROME -- A Rome man faces multiple felony charges for allegedly raping a woman and holding her captive.

Police say they arrested John N. Santoro, 24, on numerous felony charges for allegedly raping a woman in Rome.

Police say they responded to the 300 block of East Dominick Street in Rome for a reported rape on Sunday.

The victim, who was an adult female, told police she had been tied up, held captive against her will, and forcibly raped.

She told police that she knew Santoro.

Police attempted to locate Santoro at his home on First Street, which intersects with East Dominick Street, but Santoro had left the area. He was located and arrested later that night at a residence in Utica.

Santoro is charged with first degree rape, first degree criminal sexual act, and unlawful imprisonment. He is being held in the Oneida County Correctional Facility.
