SALINA -- A power outage Tuesday morning left thousands of homes without electricity on the north side of Syracuse for the third time in just a few days.
According to the National Grid website, more than 10,000 residences in Eastwood, Lyncourt and Mattydale and around 1,000 more in DeWitt and North Syracuse were without power. CNY Central received multiple calls into the newsroom alerting us to the outage, which appears to have started around 5:15 a.m.
A National Grid spokesperson says the outage was caused by an out of service substation on Teall Avenue. They say that they switched customers to other lines and service stations. They do not yet know what caused the outage.
Power was restored around 8:00 a.m.
This outage comes on the heels of two others over the past weekend, on Friday evening and Saturday morning. National Grid said that transformers and other equipment problems were blamed for those failures.
