Robbery suspect threatens Syracuse bank teller with weapon, gets away with cash

SYRACUSE -- A man who verbally threatened a bank teller with a weapon is on the run following a robbery.

It happened Wednesday around 5:55 p.m. at the Chase Bank on the corner of James and Lodi Streets in Syracuse.

The suspect, a black male who is believed to be in his 40s or 50s, went into the bank and handed the teller a note, according to Sgt. Tom Connellan of the Syracuse Police Department.

The man threatened the teller with a weapon, but none was ever displayed, according to Connellan. The suspect left the scene with cash.

There were three bank employees and two customers inside at the time of the robbery. No one was hurt.
