SYRACUSE -- A Syracuse teen is under arrest after police say he shot two other teens earlier this week.

According to Syracuse Police, just before 5:00 Monday afternoon 16-year-old Sherron Jones and 16-year-old Quavon Cosby, both of Syracuse, were shot along the 400 block of Rich Street. Jones was rushed to Upstate University Hospital for emergency surgery, and remains in critical condition. The exact nature of his wounds has not been made public. Cosby was treated for a gunshot wound to the arm and released.

Police say that they have arrested a suspect, 17-year-old Jaquell Greer of Glenwood Avenue, in connection with the shootings. He has been charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, and criminal possession of a weapon, and was scheduled to be arraigned in Syracuse City Court on Friday.

Police have not released a motive for the shootings, and say their investigation is still ‘very active and ongoing’. Police say assistance from concerned citizens led them to arrest Greer.
