SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police are investigating two shootings that happened Wednesday night on the city’s Southside.

The shootings took place within about 3 hours and happened just a few blocks from each other. Police say they do not know if these two shootings are related, because both victims were uncooperative.

The first happened Wednesday night 9:35 at 108 Albert Terrace. Police say 24-year-old Adeer Nuwman was shot in the leg. Shell casings were found at the scene but police say Nuwman was uncooperative and would not provide any information about the shooter. Nuwman was taken to Upstate University Hospital with a non life threatening injury.

The second shooting happened just after midnight at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and East Borden Avenue. Police say 25-year-old Marcus Lyles was shot in the forearm and ankle.

Lyles was also uncooperative and told police the shooting happened at North Salina and Butternut Street, next to St. Joe’s Hospital.  Witnesses and evidence point to Garfield Ave, a few blocks south of the Dunbar Center on the city’s Southside.

Shell casings were located in front of 248 Garfield Ave.

Witnesses told police that two black men were involved in the shooting. One suspect was wearing black shorts riding on a bicycle and the other was wearing a white tee shirt.

Lyles was transported to Upstate University Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Police are asking anyone with information on these shootings to call Syracuse Police at 315-442-5222. All calls will be kept strictly confidential.
