CAZENOVIA -- An assistant US attorney in Cazenovia was charged with criminal nuisance, a misdemeanor, after a large party was held at his home.
Police say they responded to a report of a loud party and an assault at the party around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning in the Village of Cazenovia.
Police say several vehicles were parked in the driveway and along the road outside a residence owned by Assistant U.S. Attorney Craig Benedict on Burlingame Road.
Police say there were between 100 and 200 people at the party when they arrived. The party was apparently a graduation party for Benedict’s child.
Benedict was charged with criminal nuisance, a misdemeanor, and issued an appearance ticket. He is schedule to answer charges in the Town of Cazenovia Court on July 24.
The investigation is ongoing.
