SYRACUSE -- Irish dancers from several local dance schools will be performing this weekend at the St. Patrick's Irish Festival in Syracuse.

Dancers from the Johnston School of Irish Dance performed live on Today in Central New York Thursday morning.

The Johnston School recently had three of its dancers qualify for the world championships in Dublin, Ireland.

The school has about 150 dancers who practice three times a week.

Johnston School owner Anne Sullivan says Irish Dancing is popular with people from all walks of life.

"I get a lot of people who want to Irish dance not because they are Irish, but because they love the Irish dancing. They have seen the shows and they got the buzz and they've got the drive to dance," she says.

The Johnston School of Irish Dancers performs Friday at 9:00pm.
