State police say a man was taken to the hospital after he was hit during a drag race at the New York State Fairgrounds.

Joseph E. Felber, 59, of Syracuse, was taken to Upstate University Hospital. He is expected to survive.

Police say around 9:15 p.m. on Friday, Jonathan J. Linder, 43, of Spencerport, was participating in a drag strip racing event when his Ford Pickup truck started to slide out of the racing lane and hit Felber, who was standing with a flag on the race track near the finish line.

State police are continuing their investigation into what caused the accident.
