SYRACUSE -- A hospital official says two people remain in critical condition and a third has been upgraded to stable condition after a one-car crash in Syracuse earlier this week.
City police had told Syracuse media outlets Tuesday night that 21-year-old Robert McGann had died at Upstate University Hospital from injuries suffered in Monday's early morning crash.
Hospital spokesman Darryl Geddes says McGann was alive Wednesday morning but in critical condition.
McGann was the front seat passenger in a 2011 Chevy Impala which struck a utility pole and a tree around 5:15 a.m. near the intersection with Cook Avenue.
The driver of the car, 20-year-old Darryl Trapps of Syracuse, and the rear seat passenger, 19-year-old Melyssa Turner of Syracuse, both remain in critical condition at University Hospital. All three had to be cut from the vehicle because of the severity of the crash.
Police say the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
