SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police say they have made an arrest after a series of fires in the Tipp Hill neighborhood.

Investigators charged 32-year-old Shayne Davis from Syracuse with second degree murder and several counts of arson.

The last fire he allegedly sparked in on  June 18th, killed 90-year-old Fred Brown along the 400 block of Cayuga Street.

Police say there was a common link in all of the cases.

Investigators claim the fires Davis is responsible for started on front porches, during the overnight hours.

There are other suspicious fires on Tipp Hill that are still under investigation.

Police and Fire Investigators credit teamwork between the two departments, leading up to the arrest.
