Syracuse Police say they arrested a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old on Saturday around 3:35pm after they stole a bicycle from a residence on 119 Shirley Road.
Syracuse Police received a call from a man on 119 Shirley Road at around 3:35pm, saying that three young boys had just stolen a bicycle from the attached garage at his residence. The victim gave police a description of the stolen bicycle and a description of two of the three suspects.
Police say additional officers in the area saw three boys on the 300 block of Bruce Street, just a few blocks away from Shirley Road where the burglary occurred. Two of the three boys matched the description given by the victim, and the bicycle that one of the boys was riding also matched the description of the stolen bicycle. Police stopped the suspects, and further investigation revealed that the bicycle that one suspect was riding was the one stolen from 119 Shirley Road.
A 13-year-old was charged with third degree burglary and petit larceny. A 15-year-old was charged with third degree burglary, petit larceny, and fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property. The third boy was not charged. The names of the individuals are not being released due to their age.
Both suspects were lodged in the Hillbrook Detention Facility and will appear in Family Court at a later date.
