CATON, STEUBEN COUNTY (AP) -- Authorities say nine people have been charged after police raided a meth lab in a rural town in New York's Southern Tier.
State police tell local media outlets that troopers and police in the Steuben County town of Caton were conducting a stolen property investigation on Monday when they came across drug paraphernalia. A subsequent investigation turned up the meth lab.
Police charged six men and three women were charged with endangering the welfare of a child because a 12-year-old was found inside the residence, located on a rural road near the Pennsylvania border 80 miles southeast of Rochester.
Those arrested range in age from 18 to 52. Three live at the home that was raided, five others are from elsewhere in Steuben County and one is from Troy, Pa.
