PULASKI (AP) -- The hydroelectric company that controls the level of water in Central New York's Salmon River says it's delaying an increase in the river's flow because of low reservoirs and a lack of rain in forecasts.

Brookfield Renewable Energy Group tells the Syracuse Post-Standard the minimum flow increase set for this week has been postponed until Sept. 15.

That will affect the popular salmon fishing river in the areas of Altmar, Pulaski, Pineville and Port Ontario.

The goal is to make sure there's enough water to support the fall salmon spawning season.
