Visit buildings, answer questions and learn a lot about NY Agriculture
If you don't know what to see at The Fair, or if you think you've seen it all, the Fair's Agriculture Director has put together a trivia trail to take you to places you may not think of visiting.
Mel Chesbro says the idea is to get people out of 'same old Fair' mode, and also to show some of the lesser visited parts of the grounds
New York State Fair Trivia Trail pamphlets are available at all Guest Relations booths, and at the Main Gate. They list 10 stops, and to be eligible for prizes you need to visit seven---or at least answer the questions from seven of them. There are big 'Smile a Minute' Fair logos with the answers at each stop. Completed forms need to come back to Guest Relations, and the daily prize is a Nook e-reader. Deadlines are 8pm daily.
Some of the spots are well-visited, like the chick hatching exhibit in the 4-H Youth Building (question: when does the embryo's heart form and start beating?). Others are more obscure, but true trivia (in the Sheep Barn 'Which President grazed sheep on the White House lawn?)
For it's unique way to get fairgoers out and around the grounds, we give the Trivia Trail a Blue Ribbon award.
