TAMPA (AP) -- Paul Ryan quoted his late father Wednesday night and promised better days ahead as he accepted his Republican Party's vice presidential nomination and introduced himself to the nation.

Ryan reflected on his hometown of Janesville, WI and praised running mate Mitt Romney during the address.

In the prepared text, Ryan says his father used to tell him "you have a choice: you can be part of the problem, or you can be part of the solution."

The Vice Presidential nominee decried President Barack Obama's time in office, especially the health care law.

Ryan discussed his Irish immigrant ancestors and small-town values.

Ryan pitched the GOP ticket as a package deal. "We will not duck the tough issues. We will lead." Ryan adds, "We will not spend four years blaming others. We will take responsibility."
