The Oswego County Sheriff's Department is investigating an accident that sent a teen to the hospital Sunday afternoon.
Deputies say, around 5:30 p.m., Matthew Barnum, 19, of Fulton was driving north on County Route 6 in Volney when his truck crossed the center line of the road, hit a large tree, struck a utility pole, and flipped over.
Barnum was the only person in the truck and was trapped in the vehicle. Rescue crews from the Volney Fire Department and Menter Ambulance Service were able to get him out of the car and treat him.
Deputies say he was taken by Mercy helicopter to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. The accident is still under investigation.
