MEXICO, OSWEGO CO. (AP) -- The U.S. Coast Guard says it has had to rescue five people from a boat that was taking on water during an outing on the eastern end of Lake Ontario.

Officials say the Coast Guard station at Buffalo received an emergency call over the marine radio system from a man reporting that his boat was taking on water around 1 p.m. Tuesday in the vicinity of Mexico Bay in Oswego County.

A rescue boat based at the Coast Guard station at nearby Oswego Harbor was dispatched. The crew removed three adults and two children from the boat, which was towed to the Salmon River Marina in the town of Richland.

Officials say no one on board the boat was injured.
