TULLY -- Olympic track star Lopez Lomong was back in Central New York Friday to try and save the Tully High School indoor track program. The track program has been cut from this year's school budget.

That prompted Lomong to return to Tully this weekend for Tully's Indoor Program fundraiser called "Run with an Olympian." Lomong participated in a 5-K and one mile run Friday night to raise money to save the track team, which he helped start when he attended the school.

"It means so much because this is where my journey started," said Lomong. "I'm so happy to be here and be part of something great for the community."

The team is asking for a ten dollar donations. They need to raise $9,000 total for the program.

Since Lomong is a Nike sponsored athlete, Fleet Feet Sports will donate a percentage of all sales of Nike footwear, apparel and accessories this weekend to help the Tully indoor track program.
