CROP Hunger Walks raise money to fight hunger worldwide and in Central New York. Most are on October 14th.
It's the 36th year for CROP Hunger Walks in Central New York.
Coordinator Doug Anderson, with Church World Service, says 25% of the funds raised stay in Central New York, to programs like Meals on Wheels and the Interreligious Food Consortium food bank support. The rest goes to hunger relief, worldwide.
Walks are all over the 4-county Central New York area, and run from September 30th (Weedsport) through the weekends until October 21st (Skaneateles & Syracuse/west). The majority of walks are on Sunday October 14th, including the largest, Syracuse Downtown.
Fundraisers are recruited from church and school groups, civic organizations, and 'volunteers.Everyone is welcome to walk, and walkers are also encouraged to bring canned goods to donate to area food banks. If you cannot walk, you can also pledge to support a walker. For more information, www.cropwalkonline.org or www.churchworldservice.org
