SYRACUSE -- A man already serving time for trying to kill a Syracuse police officer has been indicted on charges of shooting a man outside his apartment.

22-year-old Aaron Jackson is charged with murder, attempted robbery, criminal possession of a weapon and making a false written statement.

The new charges stem from the 2009 shooting death of 37-year-old Terrance Heyward.

Jackson was sentenced last year to 25 years to life in state prison after admitting he tried to kill Officer John Mulherin when he shot at him in 2010.
